Kepenekian's signing professional contract
Homenetmen Glendale Ararat Chapter women’s basketball standout, Christine Kepenekian,has signed a contract with Hatis of Yerevan, a pro basketball team in Armenia.Christine has been a member of Homenetmen Ararat Chapter for 12 years and has lead Ararat teams to many victories, including back to back championships in 2008 & 2009 Navasartian Games. She has also lead Ararat teams to 2 championship games at Pan Armenian Games in Armenia, capturing second place in 2003 & 2007.
She has also played basketball for CS Bakersfield and became one of CSUB’S all time great players. She holds several program records and is No. 2 on all time leading rebounder and is one of just 6 players to surpass 1000 career points (1035)
Christine, played for team Armenia in the 2010 European Division “C” tournament which was held in Yerevan where she, by averaging 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game, earned tournament MVP honors. She helped team Armenia to move up to European Division “B”.
To celebrate this great success, a news conference was held on September 1st , 2010 at “Ararat” Center. Ararat Board members along with “Hatis” Yerevan director of international scouting, Carl Bardakian, media representatives as well as Christine’s family and friends were present. “Christine’s outstanding performance at European games has created much excitement in Armenia and diaspora” said Carl Bardakian. “I look forward for Christine to have continued success playing for Hatis”.

Azad Galustian, chairman of Ararat’s Basketball Division Executive Committee, conveyed Chapter’s message. “Through hard work and dedication, Christine has been able to achieve her dream of becoming a professional athlete” Galustian said. “Her achievement is an inspiration to us all and all of the Homenetmen Ararat Chapter members. We will be following her games and will be rooting for her success.
