Scouting
Since its establishment in 1978, Glendale Homenetmen "Ararat" Chapter's Scouting Division has been instilling the values of teamwork and leadership. The Scouting Division's main objective is to help scouts develop character, citizenship, knowledge of Armenian culture and personal fitness, and acquire scouting knowledge. This program provides an environment that promotes personal growth while at the same time encouraging strong values and morals that will serve the scouts for the rest of their lives.Activities in the Division range from weekly Sunday activities to field trips and overnight camping expeditions. Each year, the entire Division partakes in an annual week-long camping trip.
Homenetmen "Ararat" Scouting Division is a member of the Boy Scouts of America Verdugo Hills Council. The Division currently consists of 16 troops (five Boy Scout troops, five Girl Scout units, three Cub Scout packs, three brownie units and one venturing crew) totaling to approximately 500 scouts.
Our venturing crew is a youth development program designed for scouts over 16 years of age to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults. Based on a unique and dynamic relationship between the youth, its adult advisors and the organizations in their communities, this program will help its members pursue their special interests, develop leadership skills, and ultimately become better scouts and individuals. The Scouting Division of Homenetmen Glendale "Ararat" Chapter offers the Eagle Scout program for boy scouts. The program provides an opportunity for scouts to achieve the Eagle Scout rank, which is an award that has considerable significance not only in scouting but in the business world. The Troop Committee which consists of volunteer parents of the troop members assists the troop to achieve their goals.
Over the past several decades, the Scouting Division of Homenetmen Glendale "Ararat" Chapter has helped the young scouts develop leadership skills to serve as leaders in the Division and, consequently, the community.
