On Sept. 21, 2006, the Homenetmen Glendale “Ararat” Chapter Basketball Division held a two day camp for its D and E Division athletes at AYF camp. The AYF camp committee which was lead by Mr. Fred Babadjanians had a lot of different types of fun and educational activities for the campers.
The kids, who were split into cabins, competed against each other by playing fun games; T-shirts and prizes were given out to the winning cabins. In addition to the games, educational classes were offered as well. Mr. Sevag Gharapetian discussed “Survival in the Wilderness” and Mr. Garo Ghazarian presented a very touching documentary by the name of “The Roller Coaster which is my Life.” This documentary helped the players learn how to overcome the difficulties of life. The most entertaining aspect of this camp was the Cabin skits, which gave the players the opportunity to show their creativeness.
Overall, the trip was very productive and the Basketball Division is looking forward to repeat the same fun and education experience next year.
