Our volleyball and soccer teams participate in Navasartian Games, Pan Armenian Games and chapter sponsored tournaments. We also offer individual sports such as, table tennis, Martial Arts, tennis, chess, gymnastics and rhythmic gymnastics. Our athletes have represented Western US Homenetmen, in several international competitions. |
Our proudest achievement is creating year round activity for our youth, using volunteer staff, comprised of our parents, experienced leaders, and experienced coaches. Since 1978, we have enjoyed an immense growth in our membership. The success of the General Athletic Division is evident through its unique tradition. The young athletes join the division as young students learning different athletics skills, and become the future leaders. |

Homenetmen Welcomes Armenian's Soccer Team
Homenetmen Ararat generously welcomed the team with a dinner, and a celebratory plaque to support their team work and their standing in the UEFA EURO Championships. Unfortunately half the team was stuck in an airport outside U.S. due to bad weather, but head coach Ian Porterfield accepted the plaque and also acknowledged those team members that were delayed. The team came straight from the airport, with no time for rest or a chance to put down their bags. Despite their 40 hour travel ordeal, the team was in good spirits, hungry, and eager to meet their fellow supporters in California. Homenetmen Ararat was thrilled to welcome the team; in attendance were Ararat's Executive Committee, Athletic Division Executive Committee, representatives from the Consulate General for the Republic of Armenia, and Homenetmen Western U.S. Region, and Major League Soccer Player Alecko Eskandarian, forward for the Toronto Football team. Many in attendance sat down with team members, chatted, and took pictures. The plaque was generously accepted by Coach Porterfield, and team members passed it around and posed for pictures, before returning to their hotel rooms to get the much needed rest they deserved. |
